Comic book creator and Graffiti artist Chev-1 was at the 2012 Mocca Fest to promote his comic and Animation series Boom Bap theory. Chev-1 and his son had a dope booth setup and I was feeling how Chev who was inspired by Comic books, came from the Graffiti scene and came full circle back to creating Comics and animations.

Me and C.Truth went down to our favorite comic con, ECBACC (East Coast Black Age Of Comic Convention)! It was great to be a part of this event and document the good vibes and great talent in attendance. At this years ECBACC they had their first CosPlay competition called “Africoz” which was cool and as always there were great panels, workshops and kids activities. Graffiti artist turned Comic Book creator Jun Nunez talk to us about his comic book Cabeza at Mocca Fest. Cabeza is a six issue mini-series about two friends that find they have control of a psychotic Clown and cause a lot of mayhem. Jun also tells us about his graffiti roots and he gives us a preview of some of his pages from Cabeza.

Robert has a lot going on this year with his main series Galtow plus he’s working on get some animations and an app done for Galtow too!

Here’s the rest of my pictures from Mocca Fest! This was my first year attending this event and it was pretty dope. There were a ton of indie comic creators in the building, It was kind of like a really big Artist Alley convention. I’ll be going back new year 4sho!

ECBACC, East Coast Black Age Of Comics Convention May 19th

My favorite comic con ECBACC(East Coast Black Age Of Comics Convention) is back this Saturday in Philly and I’m excited to able to go, It’s gonna be a great event!

What is ECBACC About?

The East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention, originally slated to be called the Pan-African Comic Convention (PAC-Con) or First World Komix Con (1st World Con), is an annual gathering of comic book artists, writers, their fans and retailers who are interested in discussing, buying and selling comic books, sci-fi, action figures and related material by and / or about Black superheroes / super-powered characters / adventures. In addition, the Convention also features panel discussions, self-publishing and graphic arts workshops for aspiring creators, and film screenings of works of veterans and amateurs alike. The Convention is held in Philadelphia each May preceded by a reception / awards ceremony. The ECBACC is the first bona fide “Black Comic Book Convention” in Philadelphia, PA, and serves as a replicable model for community-based comic book conventions. The ECBACC has successfully cultivated images of Black super-powered characters and has effectively served as a nexus, conduit and catalyst for Black comic book creators, their colleagues and fans since 2002!

We also offer the Glyph Comics Awards. The Glyph Comic Awards recognize the best in comics made either by, for, or about Black people. ECBACC celebrates the accomplishments that Black artists and writers have made in the comic book industry through engaging and exciting programs which include:

Discussions, panels, workshops and book signings
Animation
Performing arts
A comic book market place

2012 Bronx Heroes Comic Con (112 Photos)

I attended this years 4th annual Bronx Heroes Comic Con at the Bronx Museum on Saturday and it was a great event. There were a lot of very talented comic book creators in the building and I got pictures of most of them. I also did some video interviews so stay tuned for that.
